Analysis of transcript abundance during appressorium development in Magnaporthe oryzae

mRNA samples were extracted from germinating conidia obtained from the wild-type strain Guy11 of Magnaporthe oryzae, grown under conditions that induced appressorium formation, at 4, 6, 8, 14 and 16 hours after the condia were placed on a hydrophobic surface. High throughput (HT)-SuperSAGE was used to analyse transcript abundance from each sample. Samples were also analysed from Guy11 mycelium grown in complete medium and minimal medium in shaking culture and germinating conidia from the pmk1 mutant taken 4 hours after they were placed on a hydrophobic surface.
